OSCP salary in India 2026, at a glance
“If I spend over a lakh on OSCP, how much more will I actually earn?” It’s probably the question we hear most from students, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a brochure number.
So here’s our honest take. OSCP won’t magically double your salary on its own. What it does is unlock offensive security roles and technical interviews that are otherwise hard to get into, and those roles pay well. Below are the realistic ranges we see in the Indian market in 2026, broken down by experience, role and employer type.
| Fresher / 0–2 years with OSCP | ₹6–10 LPA |
| 2–5 years with OSCP | ₹12–25 LPA |
| 5–8 years, senior pentester or red teamer | ₹20–35 LPA |
| Lead / manager, OSCP plus advanced certs | ₹30–50 LPA and above |
| General pentester pay, all certifications (AmbitionBox) | ₹2.4–18.5 LPA for 1–7 years’ experience |
Where these numbers come from (and why you should be careful with salary claims)
Salary data for a single certification is messy, and you’ll find wildly different figures online. Some training sites quote averages of ₹25 lakh or more. Please be sceptical of those.
Our ranges combine public salary data, for example AmbitionBox, which lists general penetration tester pay at roughly ₹2.4–18.5 lakh across 1–7 years of experience, with what we see in Indian job listings and hiring conversations that mention OSCP. They’re estimates, not a survey. Your actual offer will depend on your skills, city, employer and how well you interview.
OSCP salary by experience level
Freshers and early career (₹6–10 LPA). A fresher with OSCP is still a fresher, but a far more interesting one. OSCP often gets you past the screening round for junior pentest and VAPT roles that would otherwise go to candidates with two or three years of experience. That’s where its real early-career value lies.
2–5 years (₹12–25 LPA). This is where OSCP pays off most visibly. Professionals moving from SOC, network or development roles into offensive security see the biggest jumps here, because OSCP is the credential that proves they can do the job.
5–8 years (₹20–35 LPA). At this stage OSCP is expected rather than impressive. Pay depends more on specialisation: Active Directory and red teaming, application security, cloud, or client-facing consulting.
Leads and managers (₹30–50 LPA+). Senior offensive security leaders usually pair OSCP with advanced certifications such as OSEP, OSWE or CRTO, plus years of delivery experience. We’ve mapped those next steps in our after-OSCP certifications guide.
Which roles pay OSCP holders the most?
| Role | What you’d do | Typical range with OSCP (2–5 yrs) |
|---|---|---|
| Penetration tester / VAPT consultant | Network, web and infrastructure testing for clients | ₹10–20 LPA |
| Red team operator | Adversary simulation, AD attacks, evasion | ₹15–30 LPA |
| Application security engineer | Code review, web and API testing in product teams | ₹15–30 LPA |
| Security consultant (Big 4 / advisory) | Testing plus client reporting and advisory | ₹12–22 LPA |
| Product security / GCC security teams | In-house offensive testing for global companies | ₹18–35 LPA |
Notice the pattern? The highest ranges sit with product companies and global capability centres, where in-house offensive teams compete for skilled people. Our guide to the highest-paying cybersecurity jobs in India goes deeper on this.
How much employer type matters
IT service companies tend to offer the lower end of each range but hire in volume, which makes them a solid first step.
Big 4 and consulting firms pay competitively and give you exposure to many clients and industries, which is great for learning fast.
Product companies, startups and GCCs usually pay the most for hands-on offensive skill, and they’re the employers most likely to test you in a practical interview rather than just reading your CV.
Government and PSU roles often value CEH and CERT-In empanelment requirements more than OSCP, so check what each job description actually asks for.
Does OSCP pay for itself?
Let’s do the maths. OSCP costs about ₹1,70,000 if you buy direct from OffSec, or from around ₹85,000 through a mentored Indian cohort. The full breakdown is in our OSCP certification cost in India guide.
If OSCP helps you move from a ₹6 LPA role to a ₹10–12 LPA pentest role, that’s an extra ₹4–6 lakh a year. Even at the higher price, the certification pays for itself within the first year. In our experience, the people who see the best return are the ones who use OSCP to switch into offensive security, not those who just add it to an unrelated role.
How to get the most salary out of your OSCP
Pair it with Active Directory depth. Adding CRTP or CRTO makes you far more valuable for red team and internal-network roles.
Get good at reporting. Clear, client-ready reports are what consulting firms pay for. Many technically strong testers lose out here.
Build public proof. Write-ups, bug bounty findings, CVEs or open-source tools give interviewers something concrete to talk about.
Negotiate with market data. Know the ranges for your city and role before you get on the call. You’d be surprised how many people accept the first number.
Frequently asked questions
What is the OSCP salary for freshers in India?
Freshers with OSCP typically see offers around ₹6–10 LPA in 2026, depending on the city, employer and their practical skills. OSCP mainly helps freshers get past screening for junior pentest and VAPT roles.
Is OSCP worth it in India in 2026?
For anyone moving into penetration testing or red teaming, yes. OSCP is still the most recognised practical offensive security certification in India, and the salary gain from switching into a pentest role usually covers its cost within the first year.
Does OSCP guarantee a job in India?
No certification guarantees a job. OSCP significantly improves your chances of getting technical interviews for offensive security roles, but you still need to show practical skill, reporting ability and communication in the interview.
Which pays more in India, OSCP or CEH?
OSCP holders generally earn more in technical offensive roles because the exam is fully practical. CEH is widely recognised by HR filters and government employers. Many professionals hold both: CEH for entry, OSCP for technical credibility.
Which city pays the most for OSCP holders in India?
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and the NCR region generally offer the highest salaries because most product companies, consulting firms and global capability centres hire there.
