eJPT cost in India 2026, at a glance
If you’re just starting out in penetration testing, eJPT is probably on your shortlist. It’s practical, beginner-friendly and far cheaper than OSCP. But there’s one thing that trips up a lot of Indian students: the exam voucher alone isn’t the whole cost. INE requires an active subscription to sit the exam.
Let’s clear up exactly what you’ll pay, what the 2026 exam looks like after INE’s update, and whether eJPT is the right first step for you.
| Full form | eLearnSecurity Junior Penetration Tester, now run by INE Security |
| What you need | An eJPT exam voucher and an active INE subscription |
| Ways to buy | INE Fundamentals Annual (1 year of training, voucher included), the eJPT + Prep Bundle (3 months, voucher included), or a standalone voucher for existing subscribers |
| Typical voucher price | Widely listed at US$249 (about ₹24,100); INE shows final prices only at checkout |
| Retake | One free retake, to be completed within 14 days |
| Voucher validity | 180 days from purchase |
| Exam | 45 questions, 48-hour hands-on practical (updated March 2026) |
What eJPT actually costs you
INE sells eJPT in a few different packages, and the right one depends on whether you already have a subscription:
If you’re starting from zero, the bundles make the most sense. The eJPT + Prep Bundle gives you three months of beginner training with the voucher included, and INE Fundamentals Annual gives you a full year of training plus the voucher. Either way you get the subscription you need to sit the exam.
If you already have an INE subscription, you can buy the voucher on its own. It has widely been listed at US$249 (about ₹24,100), though INE frequently runs sales and only shows the final price at checkout, so check before you buy.
Whichever route you take, you’re looking at a total in the low tens of thousands of rupees. That’s a fraction of what OSCP costs, which is exactly why eJPT is such a popular first step.
The 2026 eJPT exam: what changed
In March 2026, INE updated eJPT. The exam grew from 35 to 45 questions but kept its 48-hour, hands-on practical format. You work inside a lab environment and answer questions based on what you actually find and exploit, so you can’t pass by memorising theory.
The update also added more on reconnaissance and web application testing: target scoping, passive versus active recon, web server and application scanning with Nikto, directory brute-forcing with Gobuster, and CMS testing including WordPress. INE also added a new course on generative AI for pentesters.
Results are auto-graded and usually arrive within a few hours, with a breakdown by section. Very handy for knowing what to fix if you need the free retake.

Is eJPT worth it in India?
As a first practical certification: yes. eJPT is a gentle, hands-on introduction that builds real confidence. It’s ideal if you’ve done some TryHackMe or HTB boxes and want structured proof that you can actually do the basics.
As a job-market signal on its own: limited. Indian HR filters usually look for CEH or OSCP by name. eJPT shows initiative and practical skill to technical interviewers, but treat it as a stepping stone, not the destination.
Our suggested path for most beginners: eJPT to build confidence, then a more demanding practical cert like PNPT or CPTS, then OSCP. Our guide to becoming a penetration tester in India lays out the full journey.
How to prepare for eJPT
Get comfortable with Linux and networking basics first. Subnets, common ports and services, and moving around a Linux shell.
Practise enumeration properly. Most eJPT questions reward careful scanning and note-taking more than fancy exploits.
Work through the included training, then reinforce it on practice platforms. Our best cybersecurity labs guide lists good options.
Use the 48 hours wisely. Map the whole network first, keep organised notes, and come back to tricky questions later.
